Alright now that I saw you all posetive about the idea I came up with a few general setups, please read them and then vote, here we go:

1. Set in future: Can have new laws, new boundries, new abilities & possibilities with/without possible connections to current time

My Predicted Estimates:

    Sci-Fi: 60%    -    Comedy: 30%    -    Drama/Romance: 10%

2. Set in past: Can be set in medieval or any historical time of any country, we can use old legends and stories, can have advantures, old fantasies with super powers, fighting.

My Predicted Estimates:

    Advanture/Super Natural: 60%    -    Comedy: 30%    -    Drama/Romance: 10%

3. Set in current time: Could be about an every day thing like high school, detective, gangestar stories, whatever it is it will take a realistic view with maybe a little to no super powers, but interesting situations <-- This will be real hard for writer.

My Predicted Estimates:

    Fiction/Thriller: 50%    -    Comedy: 25%    -    Drama/Romance: 25%

4. Set in imaginary world: yes it can be anything you imagine, the wierd and wonderful world of new creatures and new world, could be aliens could be anything, with/without humans involved. No rules no restrictions.

My Predicted Estimates:

    Sci-Fi/Action: 60%    -    Comedy: 40%

5. Set in space: yeah this one is very close to the first one, so nothing new here just different setting but more or less the same thing, maybe mecha involvement.

My Predicted Estimates:

    Sci-Fi: 60%    -    Comedy: 30%    -    Drama/Romance: 10%

6. Random laughter: no back story, with little to no plot, it can be about a main character that gets into random funny troubles in every chapter, they can be all one off advantures.

My Predicted Estimates:

    Comedy: 100%

7. if you voting for this please specify either your idea or if you liked other people's idea and if none why.

btw you can change your vote after voting so if you changed your mind after some discussions no worries

Thank you

ps - I know they are all very general but at first I need to get the general set up then once we have a team of writers, we can come up with a proper plot

and about how we gonna go about drawing it I have decided once we picked a story and theme, all the people who would like to help draw can draw one simple character sample and from their sample the one with most votes will become the main artist, which would then afterwards draw the other characters and the rest of the team can just keep up with that person's style, how about that?

and newb's friend I thought could do us one off (special) coloured strips if she agreed at all in helping.

lol I said Current Time, Drama because I've recently been caught up in a ton of Taiwanese Drama series. Someone help me, I think I'm becoming more feminine.

I say imaginary world. Gives us more freedom with the storyline.

I tried not to put much restrictions in any of them but if you have an idea which could be a mixture of more than one setting, let us know =)

How about...

A group of odd peoplez/creatures from different worlds, plane of existence, dimensions, planets etc. Are taken from their worlds and in an ever changing alternate dimension with a sort of Dungeon Master guy presiding over them. Making them go do stupid crap and making all sorts of crap happen to them.

Kinda like Saw but not scary or twisted.

the thing is what you mean by crap? like doing what kinda stuff? that stuff could be anything from doing his everyday tasks, to fights agianst eachother, missions, etc

and that would probably fall under imaginary I guess

I voted for imaginary. Dun really have any ideas though.

nice if it wasnt for a past set, imaginary would take my vote

I have lately been in a writer's mood, give me any of those and I can write, but I have kind of dried up drawing wise due to commissions keeping me busy.

I voted for my favorite, just letting ya'll know I'm willing to write plot if you want.

great its good to know we have another help =D, I chose past cause if it a old thing I can come up with a story easily, imaginary world I am the same as Hito, havent got anything in my head for it right now, but since we have alot of writers here, its great =D

and about drawing I am thinking of even buying the equipment for it, I really would like to draw some of it, although I know I am no where near good to do it XD

I'd offer to help with drawing (or thinking up ideas, because I'd like to think I'm good at that), but I'm notorious for giving up on my comic-y endeavors, and with the amount of schoolwork I'm going to be stuck with for...a while, I can barely find time to draw anything outside of my life drawing homework.

I'm gonna vote imaginary world setting, just for the flexibility it has.

imaginery world gives you more freedom so i choose that.

well i really choose it because it reminds me of RPG style

I chose none of the above just because I'd like to see the drama quotient popped up by like...5 or 10 percent.

I have a tendancy to write things slightly on the "dark" side. So while things can be comical they typically have a good amount of drama as well.

guys those are just my estimates, and they are just to give you guys a rough idea but of course we can have more drama or anything in any of them, its not like it will be set in stone, its just something to wrap things up abit, so we know what we doing once we decided =)

I am sorry if I didnt come up with a more balanced options :sdrop

I really do not like any of the choices, but I vote Current Time.

I do not like how everything has to have comedy in it.

Nico Robin
22/09/2008, 05:35 PM
well I thought most people here wanted some comedy in it =3

and you are more than welcomed to come up with your own set up =)

I like all the options, I just chose none in case I'm writing it. Nico you can't make everyone happy all the time, so don't try to sweetie, I can work through stuff, others can too. you'll see.

I just didn't like most of them because pretty much every manga is set in an imaginary world or in the future that has comedy in it. It gets old. I thought we could at least do something fresh and original which is why I said current time with drama elements. Sure it will be hard, but any real writer would want that opportunity because there is a set of parameters to follow and will eventually help them become better.

I tend to enjoy stories more when they deal with real world situations. But thats just me. I doubt I will participate in this manga anyways So whatever you all choose to do, good luck with it.

I said current time. Most of the animes I see with people in high school are at least decent.

Xero
22/09/2008, 08:54 PM
Well Current Time does not have to deal with high school or school in general. Thats just an example.

I can't tell you how much I disagree with what you just said. Particularly the part about set parameters. As I writer, I find it much more challenging and fun to start from scratch and work my way up from there. Sure some limits are always good, but still, it's much more awesome to not have too many limits.

As for comedy... Comedy is good. Period. I don't care what the story is, everything is made better with a joke thrown in for good measure. What you may be talking about is too much comedy in a scene, which I fully agree with, especially in a serious part of a story.

As I said in the other thread. In the end, in making a story, it all comes down to something people can enjoy. Not everyone will like it probably, but there's always someone who doesn't like something, no? And as a final comment, I feel that having a school setting will just lead to a lot of angst. So that's why I'm against doing that.

And by the way, I would also be willing to help with the writing. This is a project I've been enthusiastic about since the very beginning.

Guess we are all different because I find it more challenging as a writer and an artist to not have creative freedom. I find it for more easy to create things from the ground up. Sure it takes a lot of planning and revising, but everything does. And having a story set in an imaginary world for example would pretty much have creative freedom to do whatever they want, which will usually lead to a shounen type of story, which tend to get boring after a while.

But its not going to matter anyways considering I seem to be the only one with this opinion. And like I said before, I doubt I will take part in this anyways, no matter what the outcome is.

I don't see anyone could do good enough job with Kikkoman, thus I don't want anyone to ruin my favorite charachter from me. Sorry guys, but Kikkoman has to be perfect.

Dude, current time does not always have to do with school. I do not understand why people always have that kind of mindset.

Yeah current time has many possibilites and seriously school is one of the lamest out of them.
