Most Overrated Video Game

The original Halo was the second coming of Christ. Like Bungie's other games, it was a work of art first and foremost, and a game second.

Unfortunately, financial success took the wheel (as it most often does), and the Halo sequels became just that; sequels. Instead of reinventing the genre as Halo and Bungie's other works have consistently done, Halo 2 & 3 were merely pathetic shadows, thriving in the limelight of the original.

You can't compare Halo, with 2 & 3; it's in a whole 'nother category. Subsequently, I do agree that Halo 2 & 3 are overrated.


IMO the most overrated game is probably Final Fantasy 7. It's always flaunted as "DEH BOST GOM OVOR", and saying otherwise simply creates shit storms. The truth is that there are better final fantasies, LET ALONE other RPGs. People just choose not to give them a chance, because anyone can say that FF7 is the best, and can rally support behind them effortlessly.

Or perhaps Goldeneye, but not so much as FF7.

Yeah especialy KH2 was overrated. The first one was obviously better and even it was overrated imo.

And Ocrina of Time will always be overrated to me, unless if I maybe one day beat the game so that I can rate all of it, but because of the water temple I hate it never will be the best game ever.

You have to say more than just GoW.

That can either mean Gears of War or God of War. If its Gears, then I agree.

And Ocarina of Time is not over rated. Bu I do think you have to beat the game before you can label it. At the time of its release, it revolutionized games.

Gears = Repetitive shooting game with boring run and gun gameplay, less than stellar bosses with mediocre character design. Did I mention the lack of guns?

The reason why I say Gears of War is more over rated than God of War is because at the time Gears was released, it had so much freaking hype surrounding it and it did not live up to it at all. When God of War was first released, there was not much hype to at and it performed great with audiences and critics alike. So thats why I do not this God of War is over rated because it has built its hype from the ground up.

World of Warcraft, and well MMORPG in general, are very overrated. They are fun for a while, but soon start to feel like work when you spend like 10 hours alone to get one level or one item that is slightly better than the one you had before.

There's a lot of free ones out there actually...though not many good ones. Hell most of the ones you have to pay for are complete garbage anyway.

As for overrated games:
Halo. Dear god do I hate Halo...
Sports games. ANY of them.
The entire Final Fantasy series. I've played all of them (finished a few of them) and I've enjoyed every single one (except XII, I just could not stomach Vaan). But they are not the bestest games ever made, and the fanboys that think so are some of the most annoying people ever.
World of Warcraft. Or maybe I'm just bitter at WoW for stealing half of my friends from me. (and making me realize half of my friends were complete idiots...)
